Hello there.

I know it’s been a little while since we’ve spoken. In case you missed it, I have spent the last several months having multiple surgeries (and recoveries) due to cervical cancer. It has been a month (to the day) since my final surgery, a total hysterectomy. I have been gratefully declared free of cancer and have been focusing my time on getting back into the groove of life, whatever that happens to mean now.

I have spent a lot of time in the past few months feeling guilty for my neglect of this website, of the Patreon, of social media, etc. I see now that guilt wasn’t really necessary and it caused me to go further away from this work rather than towards it. Luckily, I have not gone further away from my practice, but have only found going deeper the only way to make it through this time.

While all this has been going on, I have struggled a lot with finances. I have missed work for health reasons and life doesn’t look quite like it was supposed to since finishing acupuncture school in July. I have also struggled since the beginning of e/u with how to charge people for these services, how to make a living and also be accessible. I’ve worked in yoga studios and with yoga teachers who had a lot of focus on money and not as much focus on making practices like meditation and yoga truly accessible to those that need it. I have not felt entirely great about the ways in which money has informed some of my business decisions (what to charge, etc).

In order to free myself of this financial guilt and burden and to better align with my desire for all of us to be able to find ways to dismantle the current state of capitalism and re-imagine it, as of January 2019, all of my work will be freely accessible. Donations are welcome as people find themselves able to give, but all classes and offerings going forward will be by donation only.

As far as the Patreon goes, I still really feel drawn to the platform. I also like the idea of giving people the ability to donate on an ongoing basis. I have opted to change the Patreon to one tier: $1. Patreon does allow you to change what your donation is, so you can actually set your own. The only things that patrons receive at this time that others do not is advance access to blogs, videos, podcasts and so on, as well as access to the Soundcloud Archive. Otherwise, everything will be open to everyone, regardless of the ability to pay.

While I have always had a policy of either donations, sliding scales, and so on, I have never really truly allowed people to simply have access. There was always an extra hoop to jump through in order to join a class for free, for example. I know that this can cause some negative feelings of shame or lack. I want everyone who comes in contact with my work to find it of benefit regardless of their financial means.

That said, there are administrative costs (web hosting, etc) with all of this, so donations are extremely helpful in order to keep everything going and to allow me to have time to focus on this work. So I do hope you will consider a donation when signing up for an offering, but if you don’t want to or can’t? I hold no judgment and no negative feelings. I simple hope you find what I offer helpful to you.

As January comes, I’ll be adding more offerings. Right now, you can book an individual session with me. I am taking on more of this work slowly and hope to be able to do some more classes, write some more about my recent experiences with practice, and a revamp of the old 30 Day Sit is coming too.

I hope 2019 brings us all adventures, gifts, and much practice.

Best December Ever: Free Coaching Offer!

(A slightly late repost from social media, but the offer is still in effect.)

I know that you have a lot of options in how you learn mindfulness practices. There are lots of online tools, meditation apps, and one million types of yoga classes. But I also know that having a personal relationship with your teacher or coach can make a big difference in how you learn and maintain these practices. That's one reason I started mindfulness coaching in the first place!

I believe that learning meditation and yoga from a qualified person should be accessible to everyone. It shouldn't break the bank and the price tag shouldn't be a reason that people don't learn things that can benefit their lives. That's why I always work on a sliding scale: accessibility.

For the month of December, I am happy to put my money where my mouth is and I am taking on a limited number of free clients. That's right: any of my offerings, absolutely free. I am also opening up my pranayama and reiki session offerings as well. December can be a stressful month for many people over the holidays, but taking up a regular meditation or yoga practice can help get you through the stress and into a great start for the new year.

If you or someone you know is interested in mindfulness coaching, take a look around, and drop me a line. I'm so excited to share these practices with you!
